  1. Responses to the question asking what skills would be required of effective 21st century managers were the focus of the May 12 meeting. Sixty-two responses were returned, equally distributed between faculty and Board members. Fourteen categories of important attributes emerged from a content analysis of the data collected.

The characteristics of a 21st century learner are necessary skills for each student to learn in today's society. The International Baccalaureate (IB) organisation's goals and mission statement complement 21st century learning in their overall objective, as well as on various other levels.

This assessment contains questions to assist the educator in evaluating if and how s/he is facilitating these skills and attributes in the learning environment.

On the other hand, educators and workforce experts alike often warn that our students need improved 21st century skills. Without these skills, they will not be able to successfully participate in the global economy. They won't be adequately prepared for college and work. The following list provides a brief illustrative overview of the knowledge, skills, work habits, and character traits commonly associated with 21st century skills: 1. Critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, analysis, interpretation, synthesizing information 2. Research skills and practices, interrogative questioning 3. Creativity, artistry, curiosity, imagination, innovation, personal expression 4. Perseverance, self-direction, planning, self-discipline, adaptability, initiative 5. Oral and written communication, public speaking and presenting, listening 6. Leadership, teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, facility in using virtual workspaces 7. Information and communication technology (ICT) literacy, media and internet literacy, data interpretation and analysis, computer programming 8. Civic, ethical, and social-justice literacy 9. Economic and financial literacy, entrepreneurialism 10. Global awareness, multicultural literacy, humanitarianism 11. Scientific literacy and reasoning, the scientific method. The push to prioritize 21st century skills is typically motivated by the belief that all students should be equipped with the knowledge, skills, work habits, and character traits they will need to
