Could have been a good product if there weren't the big problems with stability. Bought it but never really used it because of the frequent crashes. In its current state it's a waste of money.

As other image programs go nuts trying to be weirdly inefficient, Picajet FX has managed to quietly get better and better, and still be faster than anyone else. Worth every penny, and then some.

You're joking right? FotoAlbum doesn't even compare to PicaJet. I've worked with FotoAlbum Pro and it can't do half the things PicaJet FX can. Use the software before advertising bad alternatives dude.

Nice GUI, but some functionality missing ... comaparing to FotoAlbum

This app is miles ahead of picassa. Unlike picassa, picajet works for you when and how you want it to, and it doesn't lead you by the nose through a process it believes is best for your image collection. Picassa frustrates me, and Picajet is a breath of fresh air. I wish all software apps were this good and written with the end-user in mind.

Good point, and don't forget, PicaJet's UI is highly configurable.

PicaJet also can writes image caption info into the IPTC and even in XMP of DNG files (which Picasa doesn't). There are available Folder Structure view (Locate By > Folders) and slideshow with really cool transition effects. Free to try.

I have tried this product a few times hoping for it to run smoother. It does have a nice GUI but I find Picasa to be far more solid and polished. Picasa writes tags and captions to IPTC (you have to pay for this in PicajetFX) and the latest Picasa beta does show folder structure.

zridling reviewed v2.5.454 on Jun 29, 2006

So because it's as good (actually far better than Picasa by a mile) as your favorite freeware app, you're trashing it? Oh yeah, that makes sense. PicaJet's user interface is so much faster and easier than Picasa's, and it's constantly updated. No contest.

This Tool has nothing that good Freewaretools can't offer. I don't see any sense for paying money for a tool like this. Take a look at Picasa. It's free and much nicer.

With all respect I don't agree with you dhry. PicaJet is a great program but it's a shareware. It has a nice trial period and you just missed it. In addition, you agreed with the trial since you've installed the program. The few KiloBytes left in your HD is a common practice and almost every trial software uses that. But let me say just one more thing: it's time to a real update/upgrade PicaJet team and please make another trial period for those who want to test it now like dhry!

Installed this a while ago, tried it and for some reason I couldn't remember, uninstalled and got rid of it. Months passed. Noticed it on FF and decided to give it another shot. Of course, despite me uninstalling it before it's left some crap in my registry and tells me that my trial period has expired. And in doing so, it's also told me all I need to know about why I uninstalled it in the first place. Quote: 'If you wish to use PicaJet you must be register.' I, unfortunately, am not a register. Therefore I'm going to stick with Picasa, which costs a good deal less and, judging from the feature sets of the two, is probably just as good as this.
Hint to the author - when someone uninstalls your product, don't clutter their registry or hard drive with nuggets of crap.

I agree, and one thing I love about PicaJet is its incredible customizability. The developers stay on top of the product, too.

I'm a registered user of ACDSee 7. It's a great program. However the ACDSee 8.0 'upgrade' is a kind of bad joke. Really few improvements that should be called just an update (and free). I'm really disappointed with ACDSee Systems. I've been upgrading since ACDSee version 4...
But my frustation made me look for an alternative and PicaJet is simply great to organize pictures and it's even easier than ACDSee 7/8. I have lots of folders and PicaJet makes a breeze to catalog and categorize all the images. There are lots of keyboard shortkeys (even to rate). It's not fast if a category has more than 8000 images, but if you organize your collection a little bit it turns real fast (ACDSee is not so fast in the same circumstance). The slide show is well done with 'super' effects transitions. I didn't like the edit features of PicaJet. But I'm using it just as an image viewer. Finally, you can create more than one database (ACDSee 8 can't do that - maybe ACDSee 15 will). This feature is interesting so you don't have to mix all your photos (e.g. family and business) in one huge data base. I have purchased it today. It's really worth to at least try it.
PS: I'm not against ACDSee. I like it and I'm still using version 7.
